TBT: Throwback To Naija’s Greatest Band Of All Time

Their sonorous voice could melt the strongest heart, the way they carried themselves in all their videos was beautiful and perfect. They were handsome young and promising and joyful to watch. Its hard for everybody to love the same thing but i can boldly say that in all my years in different Nigerian cities, i have never seen someone that hate their song.
We continually rocked the beats of Daddy Showkey and Baba Fryo till these guys dropped the ever-green “Olufunmi” track. Aaah, that song is truly ever-green. But did you know that their initial name “Styl” was formed out of the name of the initial four men that started the band (Shifi Emoefe, Tunde Akinsanmi, Yemi Akinwonmi and Lanre Faneyi). The “plus” was attached to their name when Zeal Onyecheme stepped in after the death of Lanre Faneyi in 1998.
I just listened to “Iya basira” again after–God Knows how many years & i sang along like i just learned the song yesterday. Well that yesterday was way back in 2006. So lets take a time out to honor our legendary Styl-Plus today.
