Shocking! Somalian Poet, Naima Qorane Has Been Sentenced To A 3-Year Jail Term For Promoting National Unity

A Somalian court has sentenced, Naima Ahmed Qorane, a popular Somalian poet to a 3-year jail-term for writing Somalian reunification poems.
The Marodi-jeh regional court found her guilty of what it described as “Anti-national activity of a citizen and bringing the nation or state in contempt”.
Naima Qorane was arrested on the 27th of January after visiting Mogadishu, the country’s capital city. Qorane through her poems has been an advocate of national unity and “The Greater Somalia” agenda. She has featured in several educative gatherings, including the TedX Mogadishu where she presented her Somali Unity poems to the audience.
