Former Manchester City and Real Madrid forward, Robinho, has been sentenced to nine years in prison for a rape incident that happened in 2013.
The former Man City danger-man was convicted in Italy alongside five others yesterday (Nov 23) for the gang-rape of a 22-year-old Albanian woman. Robinho was found guilty of the offense which was committed in a disco hall in Milan, while he played for AC Milan.
However, he could still appeal the guilty verdict, which would put off any jail time until all appeal avenues are exhausted.
The Atletico Mineiro forward released a statement on his Instagram page stating that he had already defended himself against the accusations, affirming that he did not participate in the episode and that all legal measures are being taken.
