The newest fashion editorial making waves is ‘Whose Hues’ which thoughtfully examines the intersection of gender and fashion. It features Buck Whaley, Christian Mpazayabo, Theodore Afrika, Matthew Prins, Chloe Turner styled in outfits from Ulfah Davids for 2bop.
The editorial mixes the idea of hip-hop’s representation of rugged masculinity — through its styling and hyper masculine poses — with subtle femininity that comes off in the makeup, in this case, high-contrast eye and lip colours amongst other things.
The styling of the editorial draws inspiration from carefree hip-hop artists including Young Thug, Cee-Lo Green and Outkast while the hair styling drew inspiration from powerful black female artists like Rihanna, Lil Kim and Erykah Badu.
