HBO has released new photos from Sunday night’s upcoming episode of Game of Thrones, called “Eastwatch,” and it seems like Varys will play a prominent role this episode, as he appears in two of the eight images released. In the trailer for the upcoming episode, Varys tells Tyrion, “You need to find a way to make her listen,” after we see Dany telling the remaining Lannister troops to bend the knee or die.
It sounds like Varys disagrees with that policy and is trying to rein in the Mother of Dragons. Tyrion also appears in the wreckage of the battle from last week’s episode, examining the scorched field Daenerys and Drogon left behind. Given his fear for Jaime at the end of the last episode, he may be feeling conflicted about the entire operation.
Meanwhile, Daenerys and Jon appear to have some sort of dramatic moment, seemingly back at Dragonstone. Will they finally figure out they’re related? Another Tyrion image places him near Daenerys, and it seems they’re greeting someone new at Dragonstone, or perhaps seeing someone leave. Maybe Jon is truly on the move.
And back in King’s Landing, Cersei Lannister is seen sitting on her bed, looking into the distance. She may be coping with one or two pieces of dramatic news. Either Jaime has really died by Drogon’s fire, or he returned to tell her that Olenna Tyrell was the one who killed Joffrey. Either way, it doesn’t look good for Cersei.
